Holographic packaging of the complete collection

Hand swatches of the collection. Left/bottom are the liquid eye shadows, the highlighter is next, then the liquid lipsticks. Above the lipsticks are the eye liners. Names are listed in the bullet list above.

This was taken after washing my hands with typical hand soap (no makeup removers). The eye liners held on and there was some staining from the blue liquid lip (Sea Seduction). The rest of the collection disappeared.

The highlighter is what I was most after in this collection. I have a complete collection (I think) of Wet n Wild highlighters, so of course I wasn't letting this one slip by. The highlighter is in a new-styled packaging for Wet N Wild. Their Gold Bar highlighter was in a rectangular container (most are in round or square pans), but this new one is longer and skinnier than their gold bar highlighter. Midnight Moon also does not include a slide out mirror like the Gold Bar highlighter did. (I used the past-tense when talking about the Gold Bar Highlighter because it is no longer available for retail sale.) Midnight Moon has glitter, but is not overwhelming and it does not affect my enjoyment. This highlighter has a fish tail pressed into it. It is a pale gold with light-green(ish) undertones. It is slightly too golden for my pink-undertoned skin. This is not a highlighter I reach for. Even though I am happy to add it to my collection, I would not buy it again.

I was the least excited about these eyeliners out of the entire Midnight Mermaid collection. That feeling still holds, although they do wear well with no smudging. I hate this type of applicator. It reminds me of a colonial feather quill and ink pot where you have to keep re-dipping it as you write. I think makeup deserves more modern technology than a quill pen. Also, the brush applicator sucks because of this:
This Eyeliner came from Wet n Wild this way with the brush all splayed. This is useless to me.

The only products I wanted from the Midnight Mermaid collection were these metallic liquid eye shadows and the powder highlighter. I was anticipating excitement from this eye shadow. I was hoping they'd be a drug store dupe for Stila's Magnificent Metals Eye Shadow. Nope. These are alright, but disappointing. They don't have enough glitter so often you can see the sheer black base that binds this all together (see my hand swatch above). They do not blend. I find myself having to use 3 layers (or more) to build the opacity I desire. I would not repurchase any of these, but I am hopeful that Wet n Wild will improve formula in the future.

I originally only wanted to purchase the liquid eye shadows and the powder highlighter as I thought I would never use the eyeliner and the liquid lipsticks were in colors I wouldn't wear. Ever. The eye shadows were disappointing, the highlighter was meh, I was right about the eyeliners but these liquid lipsticks are beautiful. They are pigmented metallics. The formula is slightly drying, but they coat in swipe. I am impressed with these lipsticks. I never see myself rockin' a green metallic lip, so these will last me forever and I will never need to repurchase them. I want to look into if these are safe to wear on the eye. If you know, leave a comment and let me know.

To sum this collection up, I didn't need to buy it and if it was still available I wouldn't repurchase it. I probably won't use much from it. However, if I hadn't purchased it I would have a huge case of FOMO.

Here are some more gratuitous photos of this collection.
